08-10-2022 new pictures in the tour section.
I started building my present railroad in 1983.
As every model railroad it is nearly finished. The scale is HO, The system
is Märklin (digital). During the
years I made a lot of pictures (and I still do). A collection of those pictures is placed in the tour section and the locomotives section.
Short movies can be found at:
the movies page.
I placed my railroad somewhere in the late fifties and
sixties. So I have good excuse to run only steam locomotives
(my favourites, except for one, the railbus). Of course I use older material too. And if I use some
more recent material it is because I like it and, in my view, the material doesn't
disturb the overall view.
I also collect "beer"cars. But concentrate now on the ones with a breaker's house.
You can't have them all!
I designed the lay-out myself. I did not copy any existing
places from the real world.
The two track mainline connects two stations, Baden Baden (Vollmer) and Bonn (Kibri). The hidden yard has 9 tracks. The mainline has mostly heavy passenger and freight trains. The domain of the pacifics! The sideline with shorter trains and smaller locomotives visits also the village of Neuffen.
The track plan is on the lay-out page.
Trains and tracks are from
Märklin. The scenery material is
from wellknown manufactorers like
Kibri,
Vollmer,
Faller,
Busch,
Noch,
Viessmann,
Preiser,
Wiking,
Brekina,
Roco (cars),
Heki,
Brawa,
and so on.
My lay-out is placed in the attic of our house
as you can see in some of the pictures. It measures about
4.60 X 3.00 m. There are four levels. The tracks and scenery
are placed against the walls. I'm operating it from the center of
the room.
The trains run digital. Signals, turn-outs and so on are controlled in the traditional way.
