The real steam-engines

new 26-07-2019 Alpine horn blower.

The mainline is divided into sections. Each section is secured by a signal. There always is a free section between the trains. The trains change the signals from go to no-go and vice versa. If everything is going as planned the mainline operates on its self, including the hidden station.

The brancheline is operated by hand. After the stop in the Baden Baden station the train is going back the same way it came. So I have change the locomotive from one side to the other side of the train.

In the stations the turnouts are also changed by the riding (and stopping) trains. The occupied tracks in the stations are secured.

For a long time I used only the Märklin signals. Recently I started to use the new Viessmann signals. I the future I will replace my (build in) Märklin signals by Viessmann signals if it is possible. Not every position on the layout allows the use of the long vertical underfloor part

Following the sideline from the station of Bonn it goes down to the village of Neuffen. They are celebrating the yearly feast in the village with music and a parade of old fire-brigade vehicles.
The band is playing and the firemen and some of the visitors are dressed up in traditional costumes.

On the square behind the station is a market with fun-fair stalls selling sweets, hot dogs, toys, china and so on. For the gunmen there is a shooting gallery too.
As you can see, a lot of people is visiting the village.

The signaltower of Neuffen. I enhanced the weathering of the building, replaced the dummy wall lamp by a working specimen from the "N" Viessmann collection. I choose a "N" lamp, because the HO parts looked to coarse on the building. I used a large aperture (F/5.6) to make the background blurry.

The water is imitated by a rotating piece of transperent, twistet plastic. The effect is real nice
